Good evening guys! I hope everybody is doing well tonight. I had a pretty good day today.  We wound up locating some used tarps parts. We’re converting these old got junk trucks to tarps they had on the got junk trucks. It’s kind of weak. The springs break. Different hardware and all comes apart. All that sort of deal. We were able to get some US tarps, roll rite and some of those aluminum tarps for a good price. We got three complete sets of those tarps for $900. They’re used. There’s a little scratched up, but they’re still functional. They’re going to get scratched up anyway when we put it on our trucks. That kind of stuff goes back. I talked over the weekend about using junk parts and that’s a good way of going about it.

What I want to talk to everybody today about, and everybody’s taken a great step by watching these YouTube videos. By doing research and learning. What you also ought to do is research your competition. You can get on their website, look at what they’re doing. If you want to know where their offices and kind of check the truck’s out or whatever. If you see them around. If you know the parking lot, check it out and kind of see what their setup is. Never do anything malicious. We’ve had our tire slashed before. I’ve heard of other people having issues with trucks and all. There’s no reason to do anything malicious to anybody like vandalism and everything.

It just drives the cost up for everybody. They turn around and they do it to you. It’s just a big mess. It’s extremely unprofessional. Some of these people out there, were vandalizing. They go back and forth and this happens in the junk removal industry. It’s like a little one or two truck operators. It’s just not worth it. That stuff is like corporate vandalism, but they’re dealing with billions of dollars. Not hundreds or thousands of dollars or something like that. Know what your competition is doing. Know what’s working for you and know what’s not. One of the things that you can always do, what are the major players in the market? 1-800-GOT-JUNK?, College Hunks Hauling Junk and Junk King. Those are the big three right there. The big three. What are they doing? What are they doing online? What is the website like? How are they advertising? All of them are doing AdWords. Every single one of them are doing AdWords. Sending out some AdWords and others. All of them appear well. SEO, so they’re all doing SEO. What else are they doing in your market? 1-800-GOT-JUNK? is doing radio commercials. We’ve been against radio for a long time, but I’m starting to consider doing it. You know why? Because 1-800-GOT-JUNK? has been doing radio commercials for over a year now. Over one year, they’ve been doing radio commercials in our Charlotte and Raleigh market. If they’re doing it a year then it must work. It’s got to work if they’ve been doing it a year and were getting jobs off of it.

Understand what your competition is doing and copying it is a bad thing, especially the big three. The big three are doing it. They’ve got the research, money and experience behind. They’re not going to be doing stuff that doesn’t work. If you’re not on AdWords, you’re not doing what they’re doing. If you’re not on a not doing SEO, you’re not doing what they’re doing. Those are two of the biggest things they do that has allowed them to gain market share throughout the country. No market does College Hunks Hauling Junks or Junk King have big time name recognition when they first come into the market. They build that name recognition from advertising, doing a good job, getting the word out and all that kind of stuff. That’s how they build that name recognition. You actually have almost an advantage over them because you’re 100% locally owned going right into it. A lot of parts in the country that’s very important. If you do a lot of what they do, you figure out ways because you’re smaller that you actually have an advantage and you exploit that. That’s great. When you’re coming in and you want to do AdWords and SEO, we’re here to help you. We’re not cheap.  We’re not cheap depending on what you’re doing. If you’re doing CAM or AdWords or whatever. You missed the very first month from either $2,500, or $3,000. It’s either going to drop down to $1750 years or it’s going to stay at$3,000 for the next five months or six months total.

Like AdWords, it’s $2,500 on first month. $1750 for month 2, 3 and 5. $1250 for month 6. The CAM is just dependent on how aggressive you want to be on the SEO and the results that you’re getting on the SEO. The first several months, it’s an investment. You either break even or you might lose a little money when you first started doing it. What you’ve got to remember is, 1-800-GOT-JUNK? and College Hunks Hauling Junks is doing it. They’ve got a lot of experience and expertise in it, but they’re not going out there. They’re not selling all the other junk removal companies. They’re not offering those services to all the other junk removal companies. We are, we’ve got the experience and knowledge. We spent a bunch of money learning it. In our North Carolina markets, we have partners throughout the country now that are using it.

We’re here to help you on that kind of stuff. But what else are they doing? The trucks, there’s a reason they use those types of trucks there. That’s going right into it. I had no idea about an Isuzu truck when we first started, but 1-800-GOT-JUNK? was using it. Why 1-800-GOT-JUNK? is using these trucks? Well, they got a toolbox to keep the tools. Two, it’s a dump. That’s great, it’s a dump truck. Three, the reason they use the low cab forward trucks is they’re very maneuverable. They’re pretty economic. It’s not a cheap truck, but it’s not an extremely expensive truck. They’re non CDL, so you can have any experienced drivers. They handle very well. Those inexperienced drivers are less likely to get in a tight spot and screw something up. A lot less likely to snag a fender then like with the dually truck. To be honest with you, 1-800-GOT-JUNK? they’ve got a great body.

I liked the Junk Doctors body better. A lot of times we try and invent the wheel. Figure out a different way to go about doing something. Sometimes that’s good, but a lot of times you got to really look at what your competition is doing. If what they’re doing is working and it’s working right. There’s no reason to try and invent something new unless it’s really going to give you an edge. If they’ve got something good going on then go and copy. It’s not always just the big three. There’s some unique stuff that I’ve come across in different markets that junk removal companies have going. If you’re one of those markets where you’ve got one of those unique concepts. You might need to do that because it might be an advantage that a competitor will have over you. Understand what your competitors are doing and copy it a lot of times if it makes sense. If there’s a way you can improve it, then great. Good improvement, put it in place and see if it actually works. I enjoy being with you all night.
